That’s right...A workout can be as easy or as challenging as YOU make it. You can half-ass almost any workout and breeze through it OR you can make any workout challenging by improving your technique, slowing down your reps, adding pauses, or 1/2 reps. One will bring results. One will not.
Ok so what does half-assing your workouts mean?
- Going through the motions
- No thought to what you are actually doing
- No focus on movement
- Fast reps
- Sloppy technique
- Using less weight because it’s easier.
So what to do to make your workouts more effective?
- Bring intensity through weight: push yourself to lift as much weight as you can with great form.
- Focus on your technique
- Is your core braced?
What is your back doing?
Are you getting full range of motion?
What are your shoulders doing?
- Slow down: - Slow down your reps. If you are blowing through them:
1. Your weight is too light
2. Momentum is driving the movement instead of the muscles driving the movement.
➡️Stay consistent and track your progress in the gym just like you would do with your nutrition.
➡️Get uncomfortable. No one ever made any changes staying inside their comfort zones. Be smart, but get uncomfortable.
➡️Adding pauses, half reps, slow eccentric, is another way to up the challenge of any exercise.
