Why I don’t provide meal plans

I get asked often if I provide meal plans. _ Plans that tell you exactly what to eat and how much to eat. Some may even tell you when to eat. _ That sounds amazing on the surface. You don’t have to think, or figure anything out. You just eat what you are being told to eat. It’s basically being spoon-fed! _ Is this truly sustainable? _ As a Level 3 personal trainer, I am not even qualified to give out personalised meal plans the only professional that can do so is a dietitian. - I for one wouldn’t want to tell a client what to eat and when to eat it. _ Look, developing your own meal plan is how you will ultimately be able to create a diet that is sustainable, and one that includes foods you love and will work with your life. Start with your Go-To-Meals that: 1. You always have the ingredients on hand 2. You know the portion sizes, calorie counts, and protein grams 3. You can make with your eyes closed because they are easy to prepare 4. You love _ You don’t have to *only* eat those go-to-meals, but eating them frequently will keep you on track and be way less overwhelmed. Then gradually add to your list. Try different things. _ It requires you to put in the work, and you figure out the calories, protein grams, and portion sizes, but the return on investment is going to be really high. Your life will become easier, less stressful and you can enjoy the foods you love. _ So no I don’t and never will provide my clients with restricted meal plans. Make good choices, also eat foods you love and enjoy. As long as you aim to hit your daily calorie and protein target that I set you inline with your goals that’s all I care about. A great app for tracking calories is My Fitness Pal.
